Be aware of scams

CPD is warning residents about males posing as Erie County Water Authority Employees. They scam their way into the subject’s home, saying the water flow is not right. There was an incident in the neighboring Town of Lancaster, where the homeowner had the suspect check the water flow from a basement faucet. While the homeowner was in the basement, several thousand dollars worth of jewelry was taken.

The suspects attempted this at a Cheektowaga address, but the homeowner would not let the male past the front door. The homeowner said the one male went to the door while the second stayed in the truck.

SUSPECT: WHITE/HISPANIC MALE, LATE 40’S EARLY 50’S, 6’00” OVER 200 LBS. WEARING DARK HAT, DARK JACKET, DARK PANTS AND SUNGLASSES.

VEHICLE: FULL SIZE BLACK PICK UP.
